Uh oh! Buddy’s on a diet. If you’ve ever lived with a Lab before, you know their fondness for food. Buddy is no exception. Or perhaps I should say he is exceptional in his pursuit of food. We have one dog who’s a slow and reluctant eater. Buddy often eats her food when she walks away from it and I’m not paying attention. He’s also not above counter surfing. It's National Dog Day!

Celebrate! It’s National Dog Day. Founded 2004 by animal advocate Colleen Page, it’s a day to honor our canine friends with a bit of extra love. Take your dog to the dog park or on an extra walk and let them sniff to their heart’s content. Let them cool off with a wade in a creek or lake, or offer them an extra treat. Tracker Dogs Help Fight Poaching in Conservations Area in Kenya

Is Your Stress Affecting Your Dog?

Are you stressed out? Then your dog might be too. According to a new study from Linkoping University in Sweden, " . . .the levels of long-term cortisol in the dog and its owner were synchronised, such that owners with high cortisol levels have dogs with high cortisol levels, while owners with low cortisol levels have dogs with low levels," says Ann-Sofie Sundman of the Department of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (IFM) at LiU, principal author of the study and newly promoted doctor of ethology.
