Passage of the PAWS Act

Because we know the healing compassion of dogs. Because we are veteran owned. Because we have supported Freedom Service Dogs, a Colorado organization that trains service dogs for veterans. Because, because, because!  We were thrilled to see that on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, President Biden signed the PAWS Act into law.

"The PAWS ACT, or 'Puppies Assisting Wounded Service members for Veterans Therapy Act,' authorizes the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to create a pilot program on dog training therapy that will provide dog-training skills and service dogs to veterans with mental illnesses." (firstcoastnews.com)

This is a five year pilot program allocating $10 million dollars to the VA to pay for service dogs for veterans. A great step towards helping veterans receive a helping dog.
