Bearing Witness: Nonprofit K9 search and rescue team offers closure to Boulder County residents grieving lost pets after Marshall Fire

As you probably know, on December 30, 2021, Boulder County suffered a devastating fire that destroyed 1084 homes, damaged more than 150 residential structures and also destroyed and damaged businesses in the area. The fast moving fire, driven by winds over 100 miles an hour, prevented many people from returning home to evacuate pets. To add to the difficulty and sorrow of losing everything they owned, many families are also grieving the loss of pets who died in the fire. Our hearts go out to them.

In this article, read about Boulder's local non-profit, Justice Takes Flight, an organization specializing in dog-led searches for missing people. They've extended their mission to support pet owners find remains of their missing pets.
